Understanding the
Asthma & Allergy Friendly®
Certification

Asthma & Allergy Friendly. aafa.org/certified.

What is the Asthma & Allergy Friendly® Certification Mark?

Many air purifiers claim to reduce airborne allergens, but without independent, third-party testing, it's difficult for consumers to trust those claims.

The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA) partnered with Allergy Standards Limited (ASL) to create the Asthma & Allergy Friendly® Certification Program. This independent program tests air purifiers (and other products) against strict scientific standards for allergen reduction to ensure they are more suitable for those living with asthma and allergies.

Only products that pass these rigorous tests are allowed to carry the Certified Asthma & Allergy Friendly® mark, giving you confidence that the product has been proven to help improve your indoor air environment. Learn more

Why Asthma & Allergy Friendly Certification Matters?

As a company dedicated to your indoor environment, our Asthma & Allergy Friendly® certification is a reflection of our commitment to transparency and engineering excellence. When you choose a Rabbit Air purifier, you can feel confident knowing our advanced filtration systems have been rigorously tested and independently proven to effectively capture allergens and support a healthier indoor environment.

In a crowded market where many products make broad claims about allergen control, it can be difficult to distinguish which devices truly perform. That is why this certification is so invaluable to us and to you—it serves as a scientific benchmark that cuts through the noise. It reassures you that your choice is rooted in reliable data, ensuring our technology delivers the best environment for your home.

Product Testing

Certification is based on product testing; every certified product is tested to strict standards, ensuring it maintains performance even when the filter is loaded with dust and allergens.

Focuses on Triggers

It goes beyond testing overall indoor air quality by focusing on what triggers asthma and allergies. Certification testing includes cat allergens, dust mite allergens, pollen, and micro-particles.

Independent

Products are tested at a range of third-party labs; the Asthma & Allergy Friendly® certification can be trusted to be independent.

How does a portable
air cleaner achieve
Asthma & Allergy Friendly®
Certification?

Allergen Removal: Using the air cleaner must result in a 90% reduction in allergen levels in the air.
Allergen Capture: Over 50% of the allergen removed from the air must be captured in the product's filter, and not redistributed onto surfaces in the room.
Ozone: Air cleaners must comply with the US Code of Federal Regulations limits for ozone emission - i.e. less than 0.05 parts per millions emitted.
Ions: For air cleaners with an ionizing function, there must be more negative than positive ions produced. These air cleaners must also have a media-based filter.
