Stay Allergy Free on Vacation

Summer is a time for exploration, from adventures in far off cities, to discovering new places to love in your hometown. Traveling, however, can expose us to unexpected allergens, making us risk spending time sneezing, when we should be having fun. Luckily, with a bit of planning, you can keep your vacation sniffle free.

Before your trip, check local pollen forecasts and air quality indexes in case you need to change your outdoor activities for fun diversions indoors. If you are staying in a hotel, see if your hotel can provide you with dust mite proof bedding and an air purifier to help you have a more comfortable stay. If you plan on traveling outside of the country, it may help to learn the names of your medicines, or particularly potent allergens in the local language, especially if you have food allergies. Travel smart this summer and have a fun, relaxing, and allergy free vacation.

High Temperatures Hurt Air Quality

Sunshine is always welcome in the summer, but when warm days give over to heat waves and hot temperatures, we risk more than sunburns when we venture outdoors. When outdoor air is heated, nitrogen oxides react with chemical compounds, such as the fumes from cars and burning fuel, to create thick layers of smog. This effect is more pronounced in densely populated or industrial areas. Increases in smog can cause respiratory irritation and other unpleasant health consequences, so when you see the forecast point toward a heat wave in your area, make sure to limit your outdoor excursions. When at home, keep windows closed and your air purifier turned on to keep indoor pollutant levels low.

Meet Rabbit Air at Dwell on Design!

It is one of our favorite times of the year – the annual Dwell on Design show in Los Angeles! Taking place at the Los Angeles Convention Center from June 20-22, the show boasts thousands of products on display showcasing the latest in cutting-edge design, along with speakers, presentations, and home tours. Rabbit Air will be in attendance with our stylish MinusA2 air purifiers, and our Red Dot and Good Design Award winning new BioGS 2.0 air purifier. If you are in the Los Angeles area, swing by and say hello! We’d love to meet you there!

Keep Your Garden Pesticide Free

Rabbit Air bunnies know all about keeping their indoor air clean and chemical free, and this summer we challenge you to keep your outdoor areas chemical free as well. Pesticides may keep your garden looking lovely, but they can be harmful to pets and children, and can damage local wildlife as well.

Getting rid of harsh chemicals from your garden is easier than it sounds; you may already have pesticide substitutes at home right now! Coffee grounds can ward off pests, like slugs, while enriching soil, and strong smelling bar soap can be strategically placed around flower beds to keep nibbling deer at bay. There are lots of resources online with great tips and guides, so get out and start your chemical free garden today!
