June Gloom
For a lot of Rabbit Air customers, the transition from spring to summer involves adjusting to a new set of allergy triggers. Perhaps the alder and sycamore trees have stopped releasing their pollen in the air, but the ragweed and sagebrush will soon be in bloom and the allergy symptoms are the same.
Bees, wasps, fire ants, and other insects that tend to come out in the summer can cause allergic reactions in some people and summertime pollution, particularly ozone, can cause additional discomfort. On days when the pollen count is high, or on especially polluted days, stay inside as much as possible to avoid contact with allergens. Dust mites also peak during the summer and tend to thrive in damp environments, so it's important to vacuum carpets, and wash bedding and curtains on a regular basis. Also try to keep the humidity in your house between 30 and 50 percent, to prevent dust mite growth.
Hit the Road but Leave the Allergies Behind
We know that summertime means vacations for many of you. For people who rely on the allergy protection they've constructed in their own homes, travel can sometimes be a source of anxiety. Depending on where you're going, you might encounter new allergy triggers and it's best to be as prepared as possible so that those nasty symptoms don't get in the way of your fun.
For a good online resource, check out WebMD's list of ways to prepare for a healthful vacation. Talking to your doctor, researching your destination's flora and fauna, and booking non-smoking, no-pets-allowed hotel rooms are all simple ways to help keep your allergies at bay and maximize that vacation.
