HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM RABBIT AIR!

We hope you all have safe, healthful, and happy holidays. We're looking forward to the year to come.

AFTER SANDY: RECLAIM YOUR CLEAN AIR

The aftermath of Hurricane Sandy has left many people with poor indoor air quality due to stagnant floodwater and resulting mold, germs, and bugs. It's important to clean up the water and dry your house as soon as possible to avoid water damage and health problems caused by mold particles. Here are some helpful tips from the EPA about dealing with domestic water issues after the hurricane.

  • When cleaning, wear an N-95 respirator, which you can find at a hardware store. A handkerchief or dust mask will not protect you from germs and mold.
  • Wear gloves so that you don't touch mold with your bare hands.
  • Throw away anything that was wet with floodwater and cannot be cleaned.
  • Mold particles can trigger allergy, asthma, and breathing problems. Talk to your doctor if you're concerned about cleaning up the mold yourself.

CHRONIC OBSTRUCTIVE PULMONARY DISEASE (COPD)

November was COPD Awareness Month. COPD is one of the most common lung diseases. It's a progressive condition that causes breathing difficulty -- copious mucus, wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness, and other symptoms. The leading cause of COPD is cigarette smoking, though long-term exposure to other lung irritants such as air pollution, chemical fumes, and dust can also contribute. While they can't cure COPD, air purifiers can trap pollutants that cause its symptoms. See this useful site for more information about how purifying the air in your home can improve your comfort.

INTRODUCING STARRY NIGHT

We're happy to introduce the latest addition to our Artists Series, Starry Night. Dutch post- impressionist artist Vincent Van Gogh sold only one painting in his lifetime, yet his The Starry Night is one of the most famous works of art in the world. Thick, swirling brushstrokes give motion to a sky of deep blues, greens, and yellows over a dark church spire and a quiet town. Painted in 1889, the masterpiece evokes Van Gogh's homeland, the Netherlands.
