What does HEPA mean?

HEPA is an acronym of High Efficient Particulate Air. Any true HEPA filter guarantees that the filter will capture airborne particles down to 0.3 microns in size, 99.97% of the time. (Particles smaller than 0.3 microns are still trapped by HEPA filters but effectiveness is reduced to less than 99.97%.)

What is BioGS™ HEPA filter? What is the difference compare to regular HEPA Filter?

Conventional HEPA filters share a common problem in which allergens such as dust mites and pollens become trapped on the surface which triggers growth of harmful bacteria and odor. The BioGS™ HEPA filter eliminates such problem due to the use of advanced Bio-Engineer fiber material in which it gradually dissolves the allergens such as pet epithelia, dust mite and pollen on the filter. In addition, clogged filters decrease the efficiency of conventional HEPA air purifiers by trapping and collecting particles and allergens in the filter. After a prolonged period of time, filter efficiency drops dramatically. Whereas the BioGS™ HEPA air purifier has the capacity to disintegrate allergens on the filter thus the filter efficiency maintains at the highest level during the filter life.

Is the BioGS™ Air Purifier effective against allergens?

BioGS™ HEPA air purifier is very effective in removing airborne particles in submicron ranges. We guarantee that the BioGS™ air purifier will capture airborne particles down to 0.3 microns in size, 99.97% of the time. (A micron is VERY SMALL. The width of a human hair ranges from 50 to 200 microns!)

Is the BioGS™ Air Purifier more expensive to operate than an Ionic type Air Purifier such as Sharper Image Ionic Breeze?

In fact, during ongoing operation, the energy costs of our BioGS™ air purifier is very close to most of the Ionic type air purifiers in the market. Our unit is very energy-efficient when operating; it only uses 33 watts at turbo speed and 7 watts at low speed. Our long life BioGS™ HEPA filter can last up to 3 years and other filters are washable. Read More...

Why should I run my air purifier continuously?

To be truly effective, ALL air purifiers should be ran continuously. Scientific research confirms that indoor air pollution rapidly returns to pretreatment levels when an air purifier is turned off. Air purifiers with noisy fans and big 250-watt power demands are impractical and too expensive to run continuously. In contrary, the BioGS™ air purifier is designed to run 24 hours a day, every day of the year. This is because the BioGS™ air purifier is completely silent at silent mode while you are sleeping and energy-efficient to operate, it only uses 33 watts at turbo speed. (5 to 10 times less than air purifiers with conventional fans).

What size and type of particles does the BioGS™ air purifier trap?

The BioGS™ HEPA air purifier guarantees to capture airborne particles down to 0.3 microns in size, 99.97% of the time. The BioGS™ air purifier effectively traps very small particles such as tobacco smoke, viruses and other allergens, medium-size particles such as other kinds of smoke, bacteria, and larger-size particles such as mold spores, pollen or dust.

In what size room is the BioGS™ air purifier effective?

As a matter of fact, all rooms will benefit from continuous removal of harmful particles in the air. However, as a general guideline, we suggest that one BioGS™ SPA-421A is capable of cleaning an area of approximately 600 square feet, whilst, the BioGS™ SPA-582A, is capable of cleaning approximately 780 square feet (based on two Air changes per hour). Severe allergy sufferes may consider using the unit, based on a higher air change per hour or a smaller area.

Does BioGS™ Air Purifier produce Ozone?

No. The BioGS™ air purifier does not produce any ozone.

What does the CADR rating mean?

To clean an entire room, all the air in the room needs to pass through the air cleaner's filter. Air cleaners are rated by the amount of air moving through the filter. This rate is called CADR or Clean Air Delivery Rate. CADR measures the amount of particle-free air being delivered into the room. The higher the CADR, the larger the room size that an air cleaner can be cleaned.

How often do I replace the filters?

Both the BioGS™ HEPA and the washable Honeycomb activated carbon filter can last up to 3 years and 6 years respectively for typical residential use. The pre-filter is a washable permanent filter and does not require to be replacing The filters may need to be replaced more often if the unit operates at high speed for the majority of time or in places such as smoking environments or environments with heavy odors.
