The Great Wave The Great Wave by Katsushika Hokusai

Katsushika Hokusai (1760-1849), was a bohemian painter and printmaker. Born in Edo (now Tokyo), Hokusai is best known for his woodblock print series "Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji," (c. 1831) which includes the iconic and internationally-recognized print, The Great Wave off Kanagawa. A majority of Hokusai's most popular wood-block prints, silkscreens, and landscape paintings were done between 1830 and 1840. In the 1790s, he illustrated books and printed cards for greetings and announcements. Despite a prolific career, Hokusai lived a very modest life in poverty and retained his simplicity.

Tree of Life Tree of Life by Gustav Klimt

Gustav Klimt (1862-1918) was an Austrian Symbolist painter and one of the most prominent members of the Vienna Art Nouveau (Vienna Secession) movement. His major works include paintings, murals, sketches and other art objects, many of which are on display in the Vienna Secession gallery. Klimt's primary subject was the female body, and his works are marked by a frank eroticism - nowhere is this more apparent than in his numerous drawings in pencil. These female subjects, whether formal portraits or indolent nudes, invariably display a highly sensitized fin de siecle elegance.

cherry blossom Cherry Blossom by RabbitAir

The cherry blossom is the national flower of Japan. To honor its beauty, the Japanese celebrate its arrival with a yearly festival. Friends will gather under the trees to enjoy sake (rice wine), sing songs, and celebrate the coming of spring. These trees have also been offered by Japan as symbols of peace to the countries of the world. Cherry Blossoms now adorn the banks of the Potomac River, in Washington DC, and the remains of the Berlin wall. Designed by Rabbit Air, this art was inspired by a shadow which casted by cherry blossom in early spring on white sandstone. It illustrates the beauty of the cherry blossom and brings peace of mind to your living space.
