BioGS 421A Reviews

Hi, just wanted to say that I have the Rabbitair in my bedroom and between the plaster walls (dust) 2 cats running around something was needed. I was never able to wake up breathing easily, always stuffy, sneezy, etc. I did the research and decided the Rabbitair was the way to go. Since I have it I sleep peacefully and healthy. It is interesting when one of the kitties go near the Rabbitair it immediately turns on - just proves to me how much dander and fur is left in the wake of my pets.

Thank you,
Betty

Would just like to say,in November of 2009, I had a big problem getting the right unit replaced. In the end of this matter, when you replaced it with a better unit, and extra filters, I was so very satisfied! Our 11 yr old, with severe allergies, is now having a comfortable life in our house because of your Minus A2 air purifier. It was a Miracle. Before it was like 24/7 of constant off and on sneezing and a very stuffy nose, like having a constant cold. She now lives a life here without constant misery. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!!!!! Please post this in the reviews, I do not no where to do this online. Have a GREAT DAY!

Rabbit Air BioGS 421A - Quiet & effective
The Rabbit Air BioGS 421A removes odors & particualtes from the air effectively, generally, and also can do so quietly, if you set the fan to 1 or 2. It does not use a lot of power. I have used it for about a month.

It has a relatively small footprint, isn't very heavy, but is taller than some other units.

The air intake is in the sides of the front and the fan exhausts the air from a vent on the top of the unit.

Recommended.

Quiet, comparatively stylish, fun even
In my escalating battle against a cat allergy, I purchased this item about three weeks ago after reading other reviews on Amazon. While I can't claim the same instantaneous "e;world of difference"e; results others have written about, I do feel the machine is doing what it's made for. I like the lighted display bars that show its detection level of both odors and air particles -- the sensor accuracy seems pretty good. Apparently there are also beneficial "e;negative ions"e; spewing out which may sound like a mystical sales pitch for Californians ;) but this does seem to be backed up with some writings findable on the internet like WebMD.

Regarding others' complaints of the brightness of the display at night, I find it to be about equivalent to my alarm clock (which has about 1.5 inch high numbers) so it's not really a problem for me -- I do live in a somewhat urban neighborhood and my bedroom never gets totally dark so maybe that makes a difference.

Good customer service
"e;I bought this in Nov and it worked great for about 2 months and then started shutting off on its own. I would have to actually unplug it and plug it back in to get it to turn on again. Although I hadnt sent in my registration card and it had been over 30 days, I sent an email to the company who said they would immediately fix it and if I didnt have the original box, they would handle that also, and that their warranty is 5 years. I figured out on my own that if I used another setting besides "e;auto"e; it stayed on all the time so Im doing that for now. I definately notice a difference having this in my room, especially at night. It smells much fresher when it stays on now then when it would shut off all the time during the night. I love all the different options, the remote control and how nice it looks. It is tall though, so be prepared for that. Its not wide though and not really heavy."e;

Seems to be working great!
I have had this for a couple of weeks and am very pleased so far. Like another reviewer, I bought an Austin Air Jr, what a waste of money. This Rabbit Air by far is a huge improvement over anything else I have tried. I didn't give it 5 stars because I just haven't had it long enough but if it continues to work well, it is definitely 5 stars

the best quality air filter I have used!
The Rabbit Air air filter is truly the best air filter I have ever used. I have tried so many including Austin Air, IQAir, etc and have found them to be expensive, ugly and very loud with very expensive filters to replace. The Rabbit Air unit is truly the opposite of these big, loud, expensive and ugly Austin Air and IQAir units. It is very modern, attractive and quiet but yet moves a lot of air and has CADR ratings in the 200 range, perfect for a large bedroom, living room, office, etc. I currently have one in bed room and I plan to replace my Winix air filters in other rooms in my home and office with new Rabbit Air units ASAP. I also love the fact this filter kills bacteria and viruses including the flu virus, perfect for cold/flu season. There was a recent study indicating when someone sneezes or coughs the bacteria/virus stays airborne for about 20 minutes, truly unreal when you consider they just coughed or sneezed billions of bacteria/viruses into the air!

Awesome filter. There is actually 3-4 filters in it. It can detect Oder, and dust and self adjusts. Very quiet. Has remote. I have two of these things. Even though its expensive, its a great investment because you will be sleeping a lot better now. And my room always smells fresh now.

We love it. Great for smokers, pet owners. World of difference!
We researched and researched for over a year. Stores, catalogs, websites. We read every article we could find on air purification and safety, and finally decided on the Rabbit Air BioGS 421A.

We have a smoker in the house and two cats with two litter boxes. We wanted something that was powerful enough to clean the odors, yet quiet enough to not be noticed. We found everything we needed in this model.

We bought ours in January and loved it so much, we purchased a second one for the rear of the house.

It comes in different colored covers, (you can purchase these individually anytime to change the look), so you can match your decor.

We leave ours on the Auto setting and the sound is undetectable, but let it get a whiff of anything and it jumps into action. The lights are great to let you know what's going on, and even at its highest fan speed, it's still quieter than other models we looked at.

Their customer service is the best imaginable! Our first model arrived with a remote that didn't function properly. NO PROBLEM, they sent another immediately with a per-paid postage label to return the original remote. When you call them, you get an actual people who are more than willing to answer your questions and address your concerns. They make you feel as if you the most important customer they have.

We are so happy with this product we are going to get one for each of our son's homes.

Great product, reasonable price, does exactly what it says it will do with a five year warranty!

Great air purifier!
I purchased my first Rabbit Air BioGS two years ago to put near my cats' litter box. It works so well, few visitors know we have cats until they spot them. I have also moved it to the kitchen when I am preparing aromatic foods (like fried fish) and it works pretty well at taking this odor out of the air too. This takes a while and I usually have to let it run for about an hour to really get the scent out of the air. Because it worked so well, I purchased one for work. I work in a laboratory that has both chemicals and particulates in the air and it also does an excellent job at keeping the air very clean. I don't notice the noise but there is usually lots of activity in the rooms where the two units are placed so it might be noticeable in a bedroom where you are trying to sleep. The autodetection system seems to work very well too and I notice it goes on at home when I am doing laundry (spraying pretreatment solutions onto clothes) or when I change the kitty litter (dust).

Great product, with the one drawback
Same thing everyone else said, very quiet, works great on killing odor, built pretty solid, easy to use... the one drawback is the very bright screen at night. My solution was to just put a piece of foil draped over the top to cover it, works like a charm and simple to remove (don't need to tape it if you just mold it over the top middle). Worth every penny though.

Rabbit Air Take Me Away!
A 5-star review for a air purifier that has done the job for nearly 18 months now. I am the type of reviewer who waits and waits and waits before I review something (unless it is a meal). Why? I don't care how the product works for you in that first week or month, no, I want to know if it stands the test of time. I am happy to say that the Rabbit Air does just that. I thought long and hard about what purifier to order, but when I came across the Rabbit Air and the positive reviews (when I order, I thought I found the one.

The best thing about this is when I fart, Rabbit Air knows and kicks into gear to let me know that I do indeed stink. Seriously, there are two monitors on the machine. One is for particles in the air and the other is for odor. The sensor picks up what you (or whatever) is laying down and turns up the volume. The machine is pretty damn quiet in normal mode, but when it has to kick into turbo, you know it's on. That isn't a problem though because it clears the air and quiets down, letting you know all is clear. Yes, the display is bright, but it sits 5 feet from my bed and doesn't bother me. The remote is awesome. And the best part are the filters. I usually vacuum them before the light comes on to tell me to clean them, but unlike so many other machines there is no need to be replacing filters all the time. I run mine 24/7. 24/7 for the last 17 and 1/2 months. Beat that.

And yes, I am breathing easier. I live in Los Angeles, so I need all the help I can get. Rabbit Air delivered!

Excellent Air Purifier
Pros:
Compared to most other air purifiers this one looks a lot better due to the modern design and the great looking LCD.
Has an odor and particle/dust sensor for those who use it on auto setting. It is indeed extremely quiet on the lowest setting even enough to be called dead quiet. I am quite picky with noise level and demand everything to be near silent.
Silence was a key factor in my purchase! I could not stand that other companies advertise "e;super quiet"e; when they were still quite loud.
I know it has already been mentioned several times, but even I had to try it... Yes, farting at the air purifier makes the odor sensor go to red and kicks the fan to the max.
Do not intentionally blast a packet of smelly air at the sensor or it will be on red/orange for quite sometime. So do not fart at the sensor with your bare bottom... or it will be running on max for more than 20 minutes. Could be just an issue with my air purifier though.

Cons:
Sometimes the sensor is too sensitive and goes up for no apparent reason such as right now... I have been in my room (closed door) for over a hour and the air purifier has sped up several times, on the auto setting, due to the hyperactive odor sensor.
Has a flimsy front cover (plastic, but not really a big deal. Perhaps it is best to stay in a bedroom or a smaller room since it isn't as effective in larger room (living room for example).
Cannot turn off or dim the LCD brightness which makes it somewhat annoying if you sleep with it on. You would kind of expect an expensive air purifier to have this feature.
Remote has to be aimed directly at the unit and doesn't have long range.
Kind of expected more than 1 yr of warranty, but 1 yr seems like the industry standard.

Conclusion:
An air purifier that is almost perfect for a bedroom (the only issue is with the inability to turn off / dim the LCD)!

Other thoughts:
One user mentioned the difficulty in taking out the remote's battery. The best way would be to study the manual again (look at the arrows) and once you know how to do it properly it is extremely easy. Basically you have to push the little clamp to the right and at the same time use your fingernail to pull the battery holder out.
Another user said the loudest fan setting is extremely quiet. Well I have to say at the max, it is quite loud and pretty much unbearable for longer periods. I am not sure if that user is somewhat deaf, but you will get hearing damage with prolonged periods at that volume...

I've turned into a meter reader!
I have spent money on air purifier's over the years. That does not include time spent researching product specifics. I decided to go big on this one and it was money well spent. When I first got this I set it up in less than 5 minutes and hit start. Red light! I though it was broken but then I realized it was red lighting the air in the room After a few minutes it became a green light and peace was in the air. This thing cracks me up at how it really does what it is supposed to. How often does a product actually exceed expectations? Change the babies stinky diaper within 5 feet of it and the red light for odor kicks in and there it goes. The dog comes into the living room and lays down with a plump and the red light for particulate kicks in. A friend who is a smoker came to visit, not smoking in the house of course, but when he sat in the chair by the air filter the light started creeping up to orange and I knew he was one polluted dude. The list goes on and on. I have to rate running the vacuum as my all time favorite though. I watch the lights to see if a circumstance will kick it into high gear.
It is really disheartening to see how the air quality fluctuates in my home. The flip side is we have a weapon now and all feel better for it. I want one for all my living spaces. I wish the company made one for a car. I think what sold me was the reviews and the fact it has a nano silver filter. I am a nurse in wound care and nano particle silver is the magic bullet for infected chronic wounds so it must work in an air filter. For all the people who talk about noise I can't see it. The noise is a quiet wisp and a little more for turbo. The noise is FRESH, clean air and that is a beautiful sound.

Not perfect but works well
Pro:
-fairly effective at removing odor from the air
-entertaining to watch the odor meter go up when someone passes gas
-very quiet on automatic (until it picks up odor or dust and kicks on high)
-best looking unit out there

Cons:
-I have a gloss black tv (samsung 52"e;) and a matching TV stand, still covered with dust even after dusting it off and running the Rabbit Air on medium/high for several days. Its less dust than before, but still noteable.
-brings air in through slits in the front, when you remove the cover you can see only that part of the filter is actually dirty. Seems like kind of a waste. Proper air filters have multiple sides fully exposed to exchange as much air as possible. I could be wrong about this design though.
-remote operated only, and the remote has to be pointed straight at the sensor directly in front of it from no more than 2 feet in my experience.

overall I would say this unit is definitely better than a honeywell or other cheap brand, especially on filter life. I did notice however that the honeywell I used to have, though loud, did about the same at removing odor, yet removed more dust.

I intend to try out a BlueAir unit, which are bigger and uglier, but seem to be a proper air filter. I think the 5 star ratings for this product are just an online bandwagon effect. Much like top rated items on newegg. You buy what everyone rates as excellent because it makes you feel safe. Don't get me wrong, this is a great product, but I would spend the extra cash to get a blueair myself.

So far, so good - Great Item
We ordered this item this year due to the illness in our home that would not leave. I have 3 kids and they just keep carrying germs back home from school....we all got tired of being sick.
Step 1 - Humidify.
Step 2 - CLEAN the air.
Step 3 - Sleep Peacefully.

The item arrived promptly and setup was a breeze. The documentation was clear and concise and thus removing/installing filters and covers was a breeze. We were up and running in less then 10 minutes.

We have been using it for about a week.more or less...in the AUTO mode setting. The unit runs silently 99% of the time...unless it detects dust and or a odor that it feels it must clean....whamo TURBO....

We cook spicy food and sometimes the smell can be overbearing...if not irritating. This thing really fires up when it detects anything out of the norm in the air.

When the heat kicks on and the dust is circulating...the Rabbit hops.

So far I am impressed...I will update the review once we have used it more and we see any improvements....

UPDATE: Still working great. We had family over the holidays and moved the unit in the family room so that it would keep the air feeling clean and fresh.... While you cant really hide the great aromas of a holiday dinner......you can get rid of the musty smells. The rabbit touched turbo once or twice...but it didnt go crazy when it smelled ham or turkey. :-)

This BAD BOY IS GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Rabbit is one great product. I did a few tests and it passed with flying colors. First test. I lit an enscent with the Rabbit off and when the enscent was finish my room was smelling very good from the scent. I turned the Rabbit on and put it on High and just in about one hour the smell was gone. Second test. I put the Rabbit on Auto and started to clean up my room and as soon as I started to wipe off my dresser, The Rabbit senced the dust and started to turn on higher. Third Test.. I put the Rabbit on sleep mode and when I woke up the next day, my nasol cavity was clear and I could breath. Before the Rabbit I would wake up with a stuffed up nose. This is a must have for anyone with allergies or sinus problems. I have had the Rabbit for about a month now and I could not be happier with it. Now my room does not get as dusty and my room always has a fresh scent of clean. The Rabbit was a GREAT INVESTMENT!!!!!! and Amazon got it to me in just a few days from my order date.. If I could I would give it more stars because the Rabbit is a BAD BOY!!!! What A great Machine!!!!!

Works Great
I have been using this product for several weeks. I just opened to look at the filter and removed a hand full of dog hair. I had noticed the dust was less but I had no idea the dog hair it had kept from my home. We have rescue dogs and have 4 of our own so we battle dog hair all the time. It looks good and does not stand out. It is very quiet. I was not sure because of the price, it seemed a big price for something that I was not sure would work. I am now convinced it was well worth it. I will purchased another one for my bedroom soon.

Very Quiet
This unit is very nice looking and quiet. We have owned and used it for just about a month, but my wife is still not sure of its effectiveness. We do not have pets nor do we smoke, so the air quality in our home is relatively clean. My wife, however, does suffer with various types of allergies of which the BioGS does not seem to help alleviate much. We are still hoping.

I can finally breathe!!!!!!
My husband and i purchased this item based upon it's reputation and the awesome reviews other customers gave on Overstock!!!! I have really bad allergies and asthma and my husband as well. Not to mention 2 dogs in our house to add to it!!! I threw away our old purifier and was suffering for a whole week straight until this Rabbitair QUIET purifier arrived at our house. I have been breathing so much better and not coughing since it has been turned on!!! We have been keeping it on automatic and has been running wonderful. Although the cost, we thought, was a bit pricey than what we were expecting to pay, it's well worth the money. Haven't had to clean out any of the filters yet, but the directions show you can use a vaccum cleaner. Would purchase this brand over and over again!!!

Great product!
We bought this purifier to help with a musty basement that has pet litter boxes in it as well. We noticed a difference in the air quality immediately. It even smells cleaner to us and our allergies seem to be better. We are very pleased with the look and performance of this unit. It is very solid and impressive-looking. One thing - note the dimensions closely. I thought it was a smaller, tabletop-type unit but it needs to be on the floor. It was a lot bigger than I was expecting it to be.

good product
Your online reviews of this product encouraged me to buy a product I had never heard of. I am pleased with its performance as well as its appearance. I like the lime green color - it is not an eye sore - and does not have to be in the middle of the room. I can carry it easily from room to room also. It has become like a quiet little sentry - constantly monitoring fumes, odors and particulates in my home. As others have noted - a minor complaint is the bright light at night. I tape a cloth napkin over the light panel which detracts from the product's good looks. Also - I cannot understand why it was designed to require the remote to work the menu - I also tape my remote to the unit as it is very small and would be easily misplaced. But these are small points compared to the performance. Hope it lasts!

Amazing product
I have this machine on auto pilot in my living room. Normally it is almost inaudible, but when I play with my dogs, filling the air with flying fur, etc. the machine instantly goes into overdrive to clean up the "e;pollutants"e;. That is impressive in my book.

Quiet and does the job
The unit is solid and seems to be well-built. Very quiet even on high speed. My wife noticed a difference the first night we used it in the bedroom. It doesn't move a huge amount of air, but it moves enough to help keep her allergies in check. Filters are easy to access, though the front cover has a somewhat flimsy feel to it. My wife has told me to buy another one for the living room.

Slleping better
We've been using the RabitAir now for 30 days and saw an immediate difference in the house. We have two dogs and no matter how clean they are or our house is, the house tends to smell a bit when I walk in from a day at the office. Now that we have been using the filter, there is no more dog smell! Cooking odors dissipate much faster as well. We take the unit into the bedroom at night and immediately, my wife has been able to breath thru her nose and is not "e;snoring"e; any longer. I tended to get up a lot in the middle of teh night and seem to be sleeping thru the night much better and we are no longer congested in the AM! I know this sounds crazy, but it is true. I have cleaned the filters once after 2 weeks of use and was amazed at how much dust and dog hair was captured. We are very satisfied with this product and highly recommend it.

Solid and quiet purifier
After getting a dog and with allergy sufferers in the house, we needed an air purifier ASAP for our bedroom. the BioGS 421A seemed to fit the bill nicely, and has gotten great reviews
- although this purifier seems to be a little over-hyped for what it is. However, it has helped keep the bedroom and surrounding area relatively allergen free for 3 months so far. Pros:
- Super quiet on low setting
- Filters effectively, controls odor and pet dander well
- Washable and cheap filters (a big plus)
- stand-out design, neat LED screen & remote
- Sensor detects odor and particles (sometimes over-zealously)
- ionizer is nice, and does freshen the air

Cons:
- does not move a whole lot of air, even on the noisy high setting - there are more powerful models available for a similar price.
- LED screen has no dimmer! very bright in the bedroom at night.
- Annoying procedure for setting up the sensor baseline, which can only be done in a "e;clean"e; room by and involving unplugging the unit multiple times until you get it right
- Sensor is often tripped erroneously, and starts blasting air for no reason
- ionizer smell is slight but noticeable, and does get tiring after while

Overall, I might have gone with a Sharp Plasmacluster purifier instead of this one if I knew about them beforehand, but this is a nice air filter at a good price.

Particulate Measurement tells little unless you know the size you want to measure
I am considering purchasing this item and wanted to respond to the reviewer who claimed a particulate test was done on this unit, and it performed unfavorably compared to a cheaper unit. CADR, or clean air delivery rate, measures only the removal of larger particulates than 0.9 microns. The most damaging particulates to our health are not the larger ones, but the small ones which generally only top grade air purifiers can remove efficiently(0.1 to 0.3 microns). Any cheap air filter purifier will beat any expensive good one hands down at a basic "e;particulate"e; test - why? These "e;particulate tests"e; are of particles larger than .9 microns, and that's where the cheap models perform well. But they won't protect your health like a 0.3 or 0.1 micron micro-filtered proper top grade air purifier will. Of course, the top filters are slower for big particulates, because that's not what they're designed to do. I found this out in the past few days while reading up on the 'net trying to decide what model to buy. I'm rating this 5 'though I don't own it, because 5 is the average rating for it here right now.

Rabbit air takes on dead mouse
UGHHH!!! Dead mouse smell coming from somewhere!! What could be worse? Can't find it, can barely live in my house anymore. Enter the Rabbit Air. In a very short time, the house was livable again. The mouse will dry up eventually, wherever the little creep is, but in the meantime, I can live and breathe again. I like this unit so much, I bought a bigger one, and am giving this one to my Mom for her allergies. Eventually, I intend to buy a 2nd unit for my bedroom, where dogs rule, and smells are just unavoidable.... As advertised, this unit is very quiet. Wish the remote wasn't necessary, but there is a neat remote slot in the top.

My only negative is that I tried to open the battery casing of the remote (don't bother, the battery is in there) and found it IMPOSSIBLE. I can NOT get that thing open no matter what. When the battery runs down, I'll take it to a battery store and let them break their fingernails on it.

And of course, wish there were some reasonable colors. Lime green? Come on!! The Pearl white is decent, but wish they had black or tan or wood grain or something.

Love it, Love it, Love it!!!
This air purifier has helped me so much! We have two cats and I have an allergy to go with them. It got to the point where I was wanting to get rid of them but it would have hurt my wife so much. Since we got the Rabbit Air, my allergies are all but gone. We ran it on high for the first two days and it really made the house smell fresh and clean. We now run it on high during the day and on auto at night. Our apartment is 820 sq ft but it keeps the whole house dust and dander free. I've not had to dust since we got it!!! However, I now wish that I hadn't been so cheap and would have bought the larger model.

We've had visitors who were so impressed with my Rabbit Air that they bought one for themselves.

performance one year later
We bought the Rabbit Air BioGS and the other model(cannot remember) about a year ago. The BioGS has been a problem; strange odor coming from it; already replaced filters; still having problems. I would NOT buy these products again. I was surprised at the review which showed lower effectiveness than other types of air purifiers. Whatever the effectiveness, this product has been really problematic. The customer support team is great BUT for a great product, you should not have to worry about customer support.

Still holding out on an opinion ...
Let me start by saying we purchased this product after many desperate days/nights suffering from allergies. I was quite doubtful - it is AWFULLY expensive for what I expected to be a large fan with filters. (ANY fan or electronic device will attract dust - just look at your TV after a while). After doing a lot of research and reading MANY reviews about different brands, (and despite my hesitation about "e;air purifiers"e; to begin with) we were desperate, and paid the price. It DOES look nice. There are quite a few filters (most you can vacuum or wash- a plus), with some neat little sensors and displays. Also, it pushes out a nice smell and is very quiet. After a month, we cleaned the front filter - finding some dust and hairs. Although my "e;better half"e; is happy with it, I'm still not convinced it was worth purchasing. Maybe it's better than the other brands (probably cheaper than purchasing filters frequently). Our allergies HAVE gotten slightly better, but that might just be the "e;season."e; Either way, daily / year-round prescriptions are still a MUST. I guess I can say it works, but as to "e;how well"e; and the value for the price, I'm still undecided.

supurb filteration, but not perfect
Pros:
very quiet
filters very well
automatically adjusts when it senses odors or particulates
doesn't look ugly

Cons:
led display is VERY bright (i taped some cardstock over it)
it complains to change the filter way more often than the specs state
whenever i reset the filter reminder, with it on auto, it would constantly think there was an odor and never go below the medium setting

I must say this is by far an incredible product. Our son has Cerebral Palsy and has had various allergy as well as upper respiratory problems growing up. Rabbit Air was extremely sympathetic to our son Anthony's need and were kind enough to donate a unit to our family. After installing the Rabbit Air there has been a noticeable difference in the air in his room. A lot less dust to clean and much less allergy issues. Very easy to set up and clean. It is amazing to see what you have floating in the air once you open the Rabbit Air to clean the filter. It is what you can see as well as what you can't see with the naked eye that this machine captures. You will not be disappointed with this product. My customer service rep Dominic was a pleasure to deal with and answered all of my concerns and questions. Again Rabbit Air your kindness and generosity is greatly appreciated!!!!!!

good purifier
I bought this after reading many reviews, and now i've had it for two weeks, I don't feel their is much difference in my air quality. Also I thought my house was dusty, but when I checked my pre filter there was no dust. Just hoping it's doing it's job. Maybe my house was in ok shape to begin with.

Quiet and effective
I bought the Rabbit Air BioGS to help clear the air in my office, which was dirty (or moldy?) enough to prevent me from recovering from a lung infection I had contracted two months prior. Within a half hour of turning the unit on, the air in my office was noticeably fresher and cleaner than the rest of the office. Within a couple of days it had cleaned several hundred square feet around my office, and I could tell because the multiple smells that had accumulated in our office dissipated noticeably in that area.

The unit is quiet, even on its highest setting, and I like the fact that you can turn the ionizer on and off. Even though it promises to be ozone-free, I was a little wary of it.

I would recommend that you turn this unit on and calibrate it BEFORE putting it in the room you want to clean, because it sets its baseline for clean air when you turn it on. I solved this by leaving it on high all the time and recalibrating the unit occasionally to set a cleaner baseline. You don't have to run it in sensing mode anyway, so this isn't essential; you can just leave it on high, but it's cool to see the sensor pick up on odors in the air. For the first few days, every time I opened my office door and let in outside air, the sensor would turn orange or red and then gradually move back down to green as the unit cleaned the air. Yikes! Great product, and much sleeker looking than the traditional units out there.

Quiet and Efficient Air Cleaner
I purchased one of these, but the company shipped two (for the price of one) by mistake. I corrected the mistake and paid for the second unit, deciding to use the second one in another part of the house. These units are super quiet. They have reduced DUST in my house, and with two cats, I have noticed fewer problems with allergens from cat hair and cat dander. I'd recommend this air cleaner highly.

I absolutely love this air filter!
I was hesitant to paythis much for an air filter; however, with the reviews, and having some extra flexable spending, I thought I would try it out. I had my allergy doctor write a prescription since my daughter has asthma and I have allergies. It has a dust particle and odor sensor on it and many settings. It also has bars that indicate the level of odor or dust. I think there are two green, two yellow, and two red. When the reading is all the way. I usually leave it on auto and it increases and decreases as needed. On the highest fan setting, you can barely hear it. It is very quite. I was sceptical of the odor sensor, so I took one of my daughters dirty diapers (and it STUNK!!) and put it next to the odor sensor; sure enough, it cranked up to red on the odor sensor and the fan kicked up on high.

I highly recommend this.

Great purchase
I'd read the reviews before purchasing the Rabbit, but I was still shocked by how quiet it is! It's also so slim that it doesn't take much space and fits just about anyplace you would want to put it. I just love it!

Does what the ad says
I have had congestion for the last thirty years or more. So much so that I used at least 1 box of tissue a day. Never tying it to something in the air as it didn't mater if it was winter or summer. I have had the unit about three weeks now and my congestion is almost gone. It is very quiet,in fact so much so that even with it beside my chair I rarely hear it.

worth every penney
I initially just bought this for cleaner air but found an added benefit.

I've suffered insomnia since I was a kid and this has definitely made a difference in sleeping. I sleep longer, deeper, and wake up easier - pretty amazing and hugely healthier and convenient then sleeping pills.

The settings allow for silent or pleasing white noise. No "e;smelly"e; ionized odor either even though it does generate negative ions - you can turn that function off too if you wish.

It has built in sensors for odors as well if you're uber-sensitive.

Totally worth the money and I'll be buying another one for my office.

Overall good product
I ordered this unit because my apartment can get slightly moldy and dusty, especially in the winter. I was hesitant to order the unit because it seemed somewhat "e;sketchy"e; outside of Amazon reviews.

The unit came packaged very well, was easy to set up and had very clear operating instructions. The unit functions very well and makes a noticeable difference when in operation.

Overall, this unit is highly recommended.

get one
my longer review was lost when I clicked the 'member' link here. so i'll retype an abbreviated one. it works. i have had a few other good units also, this is my favorite. if you have allergies, get one. it works well. the auto fan speed seems to work also to 'sniff' the air, if i open the door etc it tends to speed up for a bit.

Saved my marriage!
Between my wife's cat, that sheds more than science can explain and an apartment so full of her exotic plants it looks like a National Geographic Special, I was ready to move to the car. I ate allergy pills like popcorn and the spring only makes it all worse. I've had my Rabbit for one month and I haven't taken one allergy pill since I plugged it in. I was sold by the reviewer that said it was recommended by his allergist. I doubted it was as quite as billed but it really is. Even on high, its a gentle purr. (The cat sleeps in front of it and probably thinks it is purring.) Its too early to comment on filter cleaning, and durability but my early impressions all very positive.

Not just white noise
I live in an old house in a very humid city. THe first time I plugged the filter in, I could tell a difference in the quality of the air. All the different settings are a nice option for quiet or white noise along with your clean air.

I like it
We live in the desert southwest and have a lot of dust. We also have a big fluffy cat. Witht eh combination of the cat and the dust our house was always dusty, I could never keep up with it and my allergies were terrible. Now the dust is managable, we have a large open floor plan to our house, so it is maybe a bit much space for the rabbit to completely hadle. But there is a marked improvement in the amount of dust and an even more noticable difference in my allergies. I debated about buying a cheaper air filter, but I think it would have just been a waste of money. I am glad I bought the RabbitAir!

FOR A CANCER PATIENT
i BOUGHT THIS PRODUCT FOR MY SON WHO IS UNDERGOING BOTH RADIATION AND CHEMO AT THE PRESENT TIME. THE THING THAT INTERESTED ME MOST WAS THE POTENTIAL OF THE VIRUS PREVENTION WITH VISITORS HE MAY HAVE. HE SEEMS TO THINK THE AIR QUALITY OF HIS HOME IS BETTER. I ALSO BOUGHT THE LARGER VERSION FOR MY HOME. MINE IS IN MY BEDROOM. I HAVE A LOT OF ALLERGIES AND AM ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE WHO HAVE A DOG AND CAT AND AM ALLERGIC TO BOTH. I AM FINDING I SLEEP MUCH BETTER. THIS UNIT IS VERY QUIET. I AM NOT THRILLED ABOUT THE PRICE, BUT HAVE HAD LESS EXPENSIVE MODELS OF OTHER BRANDS THAT DIDN'T DO NEARLY AS WELL EITHER CLEANING THE AIR OR WITH ENDURANCE. AS TO DURABILITY, I PROBABLY SHOULDN'T HAVE GIVEN AS HIGH A RATING, BUT JUST FROM THE APPEARANCE, IT APPEARS MUCH BETTER MADE. THIS IS TRULY ONE OF THOSE EXAMPLES OF YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.

Sleeping Better
I purchased the RabbitAir because I was constantly getting sinus infections, reactivated asthma and besieged by dust and some type of irritant in my home that I have not been able to pinpoint. The night I turned on the RabbitAir I had one of the best night's of sleep I've had in while. It's amazing how it really 'senses' odors and particulate in the air and kicks in to clean the air (on auto setting). I haven't had it that long and I'm ready to see how easy it is to deal with the filters, other than that, I can't complain.

Excellent
I would have to say the product deliverd as advertised and that the air quality in my house has definatly improved seeing that I own two dogs and a cat and my wife suffers from ashma. The order was delivered within the time fram the shipper said and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. I hope this review helps anyone who is thinking of puchasing this product.
